Gov. Rick Perry recently announced the state is investing $2.1 million through the Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) in GGNSC Holdings, doing business as Golden Living, for the relocation of its corporate headquarters to Plano. This investment will create 100 high-paying jobs with an average salary of $150,000, and generate an estimated $8.4 million in capital investment.

“Here in Texas, we’ve worked to create a climate where businesses can thrive and create jobs through our low taxes, reasonable and predictable regulatory environment, fair legal system and skilled workforce,” Gov. Perry said. “Companies like Golden Living are finding that this climate, paired with investments from the Texas Enterprise Fund, have made Texas the best state in the nation to live, work and raise a family.”

Golden Living is a family of companies with more than 42,000 employees who provide post-acute health and recovery care services to more than 60,000 patients every day. Golden Living’s new headquarters in Texas will house management executives for its operations, clinical services, marketing, legal, finance and human resources departments.

“The business environment created by the officials of the State of Texas, the Texas Enterprise Fund, and the City of Plano, along with their investments, were key to our decision to locate our new headquarters in Texas,” said Neil Kurtz, M.D., President and CEO of Golden Living. “We look forward to actively participating in the State of Texas and City of Plano business communities. We believe their significant resources and talent will enable us to accelerate the growth and success of our company.”

“Today’s announcement is excellent news for Plano and Collin County, and I’m looking forward to welcoming Golden Living’s new corporate headquarters to our community,” Sen. Florence Shapiro said. “For years, Texas has fostered an economic environment that allows businesses of all sizes to succeed. We attract companies that create high-paying, top-quality jobs for Texans and strengthen our state’s economy.”

“Plano is delighted to have been selected as the new corporate headquarters for Golden Living,” Plano Mayor Phil Dyer said. “We think Plano is a perfect match for this company. Golden Living is a multi-state family of healthcare companies that are committed to enriching the lives of its 60,000 residents and patients, and Plano is a community dedicated to providing a superior environment for its corporate citizens and residents.”

The legislature created the TEF in 2003 and re-appropriated funding in 2005, 2007 and 2009 to help ensure the growth of Texas businesses and create more jobs throughout the state. TEF projects must be approved by the governor, lieutenant governor and speaker of the House. The fund has since become one of the state’s most competitive tools to recruit and bolster business. To date, the TEF has invested more than $427.7 million and closed the deal on projects generating 56,871 new jobs and more than $14.7 billion in capital investment in the state.
