UT: Filevine to Expand in Salt Lake City, Creating 100 Jobs

Aug 25, 2020
Filevine, a case management platform for attorneys, announced plans to expand its operation to Salt Lake City. The company is now serving nearly 2,000 firms with over 20,000 users worldwide.

“Filevine is putting a stake in the ground of what we like to call Tech Lake City and we’re thrilled that they will be a part of the expansion of a tech ecosystem in our city,” Mayor Erin Mendenhall said. “Our world and the way we do business has completely changed in the wake of a global pandemic; having Filevine make a move to expand in Salt Lake City is instrumental in our future as we plan for technology-based business to be a vehicle for our economic recovery.”

What Salesforce is for salespeople, Filevine is for attorneys. The cloud-based business moves beyond using multiple applications that parse time and productivity by providing a singular digital office space. It allows users with different roles and responsibilities to work in real-time as it stores and tracks email, case discussions, sharing and uploading files, collaboration on documents, tracking and setting due dates, and assigning tasks.

Filevine has seen rapid growth within the legal technology sector as legal professionals increasingly look to technological solutions. Ryan Anderson, Filevine CEO and Co-Founder, says what followed its creation is a talented team with incredible ambition and energy – a team that is driven to thoughtfully build tools and experiences for complex industries. Anderson says, “We love that Salt Lake City has a talented workforce and the City has been tremendous in assisting during our move.”

The decision to stay local and expand to Salt Lake City was largely based on quality of life, proximity to transportation and housing, diversity, and an impressive pool of tech talent.

Salt Lake City’s Department of Economic Development assisted Filevine during their move and helped connect them to community resources. Director Ben Kolendar says, “Filevine is at the cutting edge of technology in their field of work. They have pride in the excellence they bring to their community and with their employees. It is those values that make this company a perfect fit for the City.”

The new 13,420 square foot facility at 1242 Wilmington Avenue will ultimately move 100 employees to Salt Lake City, with a $1,000,000 capex.
