Smith’s Food & Drug will construct a new Smith’s Marketplace store in Tooele, Utah, creating about 230 jobs. The grocer will anchor the new shopping center ‘The Peak at Compass Point’ being co-developed by Perry Commercial Utah.
The 123,000 square-foot multi-department store will offer complete grocery store offerings and services including sushi and Starbucks Coffee café, fresh made-to-order salads and sandwiches, hot/cold chicken, fresh seafood, Boar’s Head Meats and Murray’s Cheese. Additionally, the new store will have a floral department, apparel, household goods, drive-through pharmacy, and online grocery Pick Up.
The on-site Smith’s Fuel Center will offer 9 dispensing stations (18 pumps) with five fuel selections – regular, midgrade, premium, diesel and ethanol free. Four stations will be configured to cater to large recreational vehicles and boats with enlarged drive-through lanes with DEF (Diesel Emissions Fluid) Dispensers.
As part of the company’s ongoing effort to moderate energy use, the new store will have the latest energy efficient technologies in overhead lighting and cooling. The store is anticipated to be completed in early 2026, and Smith’s will hire approximately 230 associates, creating new jobs in the community.
“We are excited to bring a Smith’s Marketplace to the growing Tooele community,” said Kenny Kimball, president of Smith’s Food & Drug Stores. “The location at The Peak at Compass Point shopping center will serve as a fantastic gathering and shopping experience for community members and visitors. We look forward to celebrating our store’s groundbreaking soon.”
