The Economic Development Corporation of Utah (EDCUtah), the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED), and the Salt Lake City Dept. of Economic Development are pleased to announce that United Radio will expand its remanufacturing operations to the western United States. The company will operate a repair and distribution center in Salt Lake City as part of its strategic growth plans.
“The company speaks of its culture and core values, and how they see a fit with Salt Lake City,” said Val Hale, executive director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. “The skills and attitude they see in the local workforce is a better fit than competing metros across the West that they evaluated.”
United Radio is currently in negotiations to acquire a 45,000 square foot facility and plans to be operational on or before December 15, 2020. The company expects to hire 30 employees by year-end and is looking for people skilled in electronics repair, warehouse operations and administrative work.
“This expansion will allow us to meet the growing needs of our customers on the west coast as well as provide better coverage for the whole country,” said United Radio President Phil Rubenstein. “Salt Lake City provides us with the best opportunity to establish our operations out west and meet the needs of our customers.”
Based in East Syracuse, NY, United Radio provides repair and remanufacturing solutions to electronics manufacturers worldwide. The nearly 100-year-old company focuses on automotive and consumer electronics, as well as communications products for first responders and advanced research and development. The company serves Fortune 500 companies from around the world and first responder agencies across New York state.
“Salt Lake City is uniquely positioned for companies like United Radio. They will be able to serve their clients in the western United States efficiently while also being poised to take advantage of our business-friendly environment,” said Ben Kolendar, Director, Salt Lake City Dept. of Economic Development
“We’d like to think United Radio is coming for our logistical benefits, and will stay for our talent,” said Theresa A. Foxley, president and CEO of EDCUtah. “We are confident United Radio will find Utah’s workforce to be skilled, trainable, and diligent.”
Stephanie Pack, business development manager, led this project for EDCUtah.
