Project to Create 19 Jobs, Transfer 31 Jobs to State

Governor Jim Doyle today announced $99,000 in tax credits to support J & C Trucking in moving its operations from Minnesota to Wisconsin, creating 19 new jobs and transferring 31 jobs to the state. Commerce Secretary Aaron Olver made the announcement on behalf of the Governor today in Baldwin as part of Governor Doyle's eighth annual Up North tour.

"My top priority this year is to help support companies creating good-paying jobs for our citizens," Governor Doyle said. "I'm pleased the state is supporting J & C Trucking in bringing new jobs to northern Wisconsin."

J & C Trucking will receive $99,000 in tax credits from the Economic Development Tax Credit Program facilitated by the Department of Commerce to move operations from Minnesota to Baldwin. The company has committed to create 19 new positions and will be transferring another 31 positions to Wisconsin. The total cost of the project is $677,978.

J & C Trucking was established in 1986 in Minnesota as a company that specializes in pneumatic tanks and hauling fly ash and cement to cement contractors. It also hauls silica sand for the natural gas drilling industry.

The announcement builds on Governor Doyle's efforts to position Wisconsin for future growth. Since taking office in 2003, Governor Doyle has worked aggressively to create and retain jobs in Wisconsin. Governor Doyle's budget last year created some of the strongest economic development tools in the nation to help businesses create jobs and get people back to work. Wisconsin now has powerful new tax credits to help manufacturers create and retain jobs, new tools to help investors create start-ups, and new incentives to spur research and development.
