Governor Jim Doyle today announced that Port City Bakery, Inc. will receive $200,000 in tax credits from the Economic Development Tax Credit Program from the Department of Commerce for an expansion project in Green Bay, Brown County.
"Investing in strong Wisconsin companies is critical to moving our economy forward," Governor Doyle said. "I am pleased to help Port City Bakery, Inc. undertake this important expansion project to improve its overall operation in Green Bay."
Port City Bakery, Inc., doing business as Alive and Kickin' Pizza Crust, produces frozen and wholesale pizza crusts for use in the foodservice and retail industries. Customers include food manufactures, restaurant chains, and food distributors. The company will purchase, equip, and expand production at a 26,100-sq.-ft. facility in Green Bay. The 18,000-sq.-ft. expansion will provide space for a freezer and warehouse. With this expansion, Port City Bakery, Inc. has committed to creating 28 jobs over a three-year period and will invest $10 million in the project.
This project builds on Governor Doyle's efforts to position Wisconsin for future growth. Since taking office in 2003, Governor Doyle has worked aggressively to create and retain jobs in Wisconsin. Governor Doyle's budget last year created some of the strongest economic development tools in the nation to help businesses create jobs and get people back to work. Wisconsin now has powerful new tax credits to help manufacturers create and retain jobs, new tools to help investors create start-ups, and new incentives to spur research and development.
