MADISON, Wis. - Governor Jim Doyle today announced that Matzel Manufacturing, Inc (Matzel), Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, received $150,000 in tax credits to help purchase the assets of Universal Brixius, Inc. (UBI), an industrial metal cutting business.
"One of my top priorities is to help move companies and communities forward and create good-paying jobs for our citizens," said Governor Doyle. "I'm pleased that we could assist Matzel in bringing new jobs to Milwaukee County."
"This tax credit was instrumental in allowing us to establish our company and re-create the jobs that were lost in our community," said Matzel co-owners Wayne S. Matthiesen and Brian A. Nuetzel.
Matthiesen and Nuetzel, two longtime UBI managers, recently formed Matzel. The pair continued to complete projects that were unfinished at the time of the closure of UBI's Milwaukee facility in May, 2009 when operations were moved to Texas and Mexico. The company will be a subcontractor of UBI for Wisconsin clients. The project is expected to create 28 jobs and represent $675,250 in total investment.
