In January 2009, Bev Perdue was inaugurated as the 73rd Governor of North Carolina and North Carolina’s first woman governor. Under Gov. Perdue’s leadership, North Carolina is continually ranked as one of the top states for doing business. She has been an aggressive, hands-on governor when it comes to economic development. During her administration, businesses have pledged to create 100,000 jobs and make capital investments of more than $22 billion in North Carolina’s communities.
