Feb 18, 2025

Groninger USA announced through the City of Charlotte that it will invest $15.1 million and create 60 new jobs paying an average of $76,037.

The expansion will increase the company’s Charlotte workforce to 172 full-time employees over the next five years, up from 112. The Charlotte location handles sales, service, and parts manufacturing for groninger USA customers in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

“Charlotte has been an outstanding home for our North American headquarters, and as our company grows, so does our need for additional space and talented employees,” said Philipp Hauser, chief executive officer of groninger USA. “With its strategic location and world-class airport, Charlotte provides seamless connections to our customers and our parent company in Germany. Its thriving German community and strong workforce, as well as the invaluable partnerships we’ve developed here, make Charlotte an exceptional place for our headquarters, and we look forward to continuing our strong collaboration with the City and Mecklenburg County.”

groninger USA, in partnership with UNC Charlotte and Central Piedmont Community College, has established an engineering apprenticeship program focused on workforce development and upward mobility. According to the announcement, the program “aligns with city and county strategic initiatives."

"groninger USA's decision to expand their manufacturing operations in our city is a powerful testament to Charlotte's dynamic business environment and our skilled workforce,” said Mayor Vi Lyles. “This investment represents more than just new jobs – it's a vote of confidence in our community's potential, our commitment to advanced manufacturing, and our ability to attract world-class international companies."

groninger, a family-owned company, was founded in 1980 by Horst Groninger, whose invention of the rotary piston pump allowed manufacturers to process cosmetic and pharmaceutical preparations more precisely and more hygienically.

groninger established its U.S. operations in Basking Ridge, N.J., in 1997 and relocated to Charlotte in 2007. The company’s 27,500-square-foot facility, which opened in 2012 at 14045 South Lakes Drive, is near the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

The company employs over 1,600 people at its Charlotte and two German sites. Its headquarters are in Crailsheim, a city about midway between Nuremberg and Stuttgart in the German state of Baden-Württemberg.
