Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal gained re-election in 2011 by a historic margin. Winning more than 65 percent of the vote against nine opponents, Jindal won all 64 of Louisiana’s parishes and earned the highest percentage ever won by a candidate for governor since the open primary system was put in place in 1975. Governor Jindal is a conservative reformer whose success in Louisiana is turning his state around. During the worst recession since the Great Depression, Louisiana’s unemployment remained below the national and Southern averages every single month. Louisiana has experienced 36 consecutive months of private-sector job growth.
