Governor Matt Mead was born in Jackson, Wyoming, and raised on the family ranch in Teton County. He served as a county and federal prosecutor, practiced in a private firm and was U.S. Attorney for Wyoming from October 2001 to June 2007. His wife Carol and he returned full time to operating their farming and ranching business in southeast Wyoming prior to Mead taking office in January 2011. He is chairman of the Western Governors Association, serves on the Council of Governors and is the vice chair of the Natural Resources Committee of the National Governors Association.
