Melissa Hockstad serves as vice president, science, technology & regulatory affairs for SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association. Since joining SPI in 2006, she has provided technical expertise on plastics-related science issues, emerging and existing technologies, and codes and standards development. Hockstad leads the charge in meeting the needs of SPI members in the material supplier sector and manages the SPI Bioplastics Council. An experienced engineer and association professional, Hockstad holds a M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Penn State and a B.S. in Engineering Science from the University of Virginia.
